Grief

When do you get over grief? Sometimes, it finds you in the middle of a sunny day—you look up at the sky, and a tear quietly falls. But how do you process grief when you never had closure to begin with?

This project is about grief—about my own way of understanding and processing it. Through this project, I am defining grief for the first time, searching for my own sense of closure. But I don’t think you ever truly get over grief—because grief is love. Grief will always be in my heart, and this loss will remain a part of me, permanently intertwined with who I am.

With my deeply rooted Buddhist perspective, my way of coping with grief is also shaped by Buddhist philosophy. While listening to K-pop group SEVENTEEN’s song Circles, I found comfort in the lyrics: “Like the hands of a clock, everything will come back to its place.” It reminded me of the cycle of life, that death is a natural process. Though my grief feels unbearable now, I know I’ll be alright. And the person I lost will be alright as well.
