Run

“Run” reflects on the Burmese military coup that took place on February 1, 2021. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it captures the struggles I faced as one of many forced to flee the country. Leaving is an emotional journey—abandoning a place that was once home, a source of comfort. It is a departure filled with grief—not only because you are leaving your homeland but also because you must adapt to a new place.
Beyond these experiences, “Run” also explores shifting family dynamics. I left my family behind to pursue an education, a decision that came with complex emotions—imposter syndrome, guilt, and the pressure to succeed, to make it all worthwhile. At its core, “Run” delves into survivor’s guilt—the weight of leaving while others remain.

In my designs, I want movement—a narrative that seamlessly connects one piece to the next. I want my work to flow like water, drift like the wind, and bloom like a flower. A flower, for the Spring Revolution. Water and wind, for the protests we carried out, for the voices that rose and surged like waves, for the resistance that swept through the streets like an unstoppable current.
